How to Renew Your Car Registration Online
You can renew a car registration online in Ohio a month before your expiration month. To do so, you will need to go to Oklahoma’s online portal and submit the following pieces of information:
- License and Registration numbers
- VIN number
- Proof of Insurance
If you do not have the liability insurance required by the state, the portal will allow you to submit an Affidavit of Nonuse in Lieu of Liability Insurance. If you submit this affidavit, you are not allowed to drive your car on public roads until you get adequate liability insurance. How to Renew Your Car Registration by Mail
You can renew a car registration via the mail by sending your renewal notice back to the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Along with this notice, you will need to send payment and your insurance security verification form.

Military & Out of State Vehicle Registration Renewal in Oklahoma
If you need to renew your car registration in Oklahoma and are an active service member, you qualify for a lower cost registration. Along with the normal registration documentation, you will need to submit a U.S. Armed Forces Affidavit. This affidavit requires you to submit basic information about yourself and your vehicles. You will also need to get the signature of an officer on the affidavit. The signer does not need to be your commanding officer, but he or she does need to be in your branch of the military.
You can waive the fees for an expired vehicle registration by completing the section of the form titled Delinquent Vehicle Registration Penalty Waiver Provision. The affidavit is only intended for use by active service members. If you previously served in the military but are not doing so currently, you will need to go through the normal registration renewal process. Veterans may apply for a military license plate.
Oklahoma Vehicle Registration Renewal Fees
Car registration renewal cost in Oklahoma varies based on how many years your vehicle has been registered with Oklahoma, as well as whether or not you renew it on time. Active service members are eligible for a reduced DMV renewal fee as long as they submit a U.S. Armed Forces Affidavit.
- For the first four years of your registration, you will need to pay $96.
- For the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth years of your registration, you will need to pay $86.
- For the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth years of your registration, you will need to pay $66.
- For the thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth years of your registration, you will need to pay $46.
- Once your vehicle has been registered with Oklahoma for seventeen years, you will need to pay $26.
- To renew an expired car registration in Oklahoma one month after the expiration date has passed, you need to pay $1 for every day it has been expired after the first month. The maximum late penalty you are required to pay is $100.
- To renew a vehicle registration as an active service member, you will need to pay $26.
