- Missouri motorcycle license applicants are not required to complete a motorcycle training course. However, applicants for a temporary motorcycle training permit must take an approved motorcycle rider training course (MRTC) to obtain motorcycle learners permits. This is applicable to teen drivers 15 years and six months old. These applicants must also pass a Class F and Class M vision, written, and road signs tests. It will be required that a parent or legal guardian provides written consent for the applicant.

- Am I required to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle?
- Missouri state law requires all motorcycle riders and their passengers to wear a helmet when riding on the highways. Along with the requirement for protective headgear, the Missouri Department of Revenue also suggests that motorcycle riders wear face or eye protection and protective clothing. These precautions, particularly the use of a helmet, significantly reduce cases of head and neck injuries in motorcycle crashes. Riders wearing a helmet are three times more likely to survive head injuries.

- Are there times I won’t be allowed to renew registration?
- In Missouri, you can renew car registration up to six months before its expiration. You should receive a registration renewal notice at your mailing address on file. The notice contains a PIN number you can use to renew car registration online. In some instances you will not be able to renew online. For example, you cannot renew online if your vehicle is under lease. - Can I have different addresses on my driver license and my vehicle registration?
- When you apply for a change of address with the Missouri DOR, your new address is reflected on your driving record and your vehicle record. You can have a different address on your driver s license than the one on your car registration. Though, to have your new address reflected on your driver s license card, you will have to appear in person at a DOR licensing office to fill out an Address Change Request Form. Driver s license replacement fees will apply.

- Can I keep the car insurance I have from my previous state of residence?
- If you are not a resident of Missouri, you must show proof that their vehicle meets the insurance requirements of your state of residence. If you become a Missouri resident, then you may be able to keep your car insurance policy you have from your previous state of residence if it meets Missouri minimum coverage requirements. - Can I renew my commercial drivers license online?
- You cannot renew your Missouri commercial drivers license online at this time. You must visit a Missouri DOR licensing office to renew your CDL. You will have to bring the following information with you:
- One proof of name, date of birth, and place of birth such as a certified birth certificate or U.S. passport
- Provide your Social Security Number verbally or by presenting your Social Security card
- One proof of your Missouri address such as a utility bill or voter registration card
The fee is $2.50 to renew your commercial driver s license. Fees are subject to change.
- Can I request a certified driver’s record online?
- At this time, you may not request a driver record online with the Missouri Department of Revenue. You may submit requests via mail, fax, or in person at a DOR licensing office. To check your driving record in person, you need only show your photo ID and pay the driver record fee. - Can I take the DMV written test online?
- No, at this time the Missouri DMV locations do not offer the written driver tests online. You must appear at a Missouri State Highway Patrol examination station to sit for the exams. The passing score for the written test is 80%, answering 20 out of the 25 question correctly. You may refer to the Missouri Department of Revenue Driver Guide to help prepare you for the written test. Once you pass the written exams, apply in person at a Missouri licensing office for your drivers permit.

- Can I use my state CDL anywhere in the United States?
- A Missouri CDL may be used anywhere in the United States if it does not have a K endorsement. A K endorsement restricts the driver to operating a commercial vehicle within the state of Missouri. Driversages 18 to 20 are automatically assigned this restriction. At age 21, a CDL license holder may travel anywhere in the United States if they meet the federal requirements of interstate driving.

- In the state of Missouri, any licensed driver may operate a moped. You do not require a motorcycle endorsement to ride a moped. A moped is different from a motorcycle in that it is defined as a motorized bicycle with two or three wheels and an automatic transmission. Moped do not reach more than 30 miles per hour on the flat ground. In Missouri, you may not ride a moped on the interstate.

- Do I need to attend traffic school if I get a speeding ticket?
- In Missouri, you may have the option to attend traffic school to prevent the addition of points to your driving record. If your county participates, the Driver Improvement Program (DIP) will remove points from your driver s license. This program removes points from your driver s license but does not remove the violation from your driving record.

- If you are moving to another state, you may have to apply for car insurance in your new state. Car insurance minimum coverage laws vary from state to state. You may not need to cancel, but you may have to raise or lower your coverage. Find out if your current insurance company will cover you in the state that you are moving to. Some insurance companies are local to your particular state, even some national companies do not operate in every state. You should find the best insurance company for you in your new state before deciding whether or not tocancel your Missouricar insurance policy.

- Do I need to file a police report if my license was lost or stolen?
- For your lost or stolen drivers license, you do not need to file a police report. However, if you want to take extra precautions to protect your identity and your personal information from fraudulent activity, then you may disclose the incident to the Missouri Department of Revenue. The DOR may flag your record until you can obtain your duplicate license. If you still want to file a police report, then feel free to do so.

- Not all residents or vehicles need to complete vehicle emissions testing to get car registration. Only residents of the following Missouri municipalities have to do so:
- St. Louis City,

- Veteran members of the U.S. military are welcome to apply for a veteran designation on their nondriver ID card. To apply, you must present your military discharge form, also known as a DD214, at a Missouri Department of Revenue licensing office. It is up to the officials at the DOR to determine the findings in your complaint. The only people that are allowed access to your record without your consent are businesses that are authorized to do so by the Missouri DOR.

- You can get a MO duplicate ID card if your original has been lost, stolen or destroyed. Also if your name, date of birth, gender, or residence has changed, you may get a replacement ID card. To apply, you need to visit a Missouri DOR licensing office with one acceptable proof of identity such as a military or student ID. If you apply for a duplicate ID card within six months of your ID card expiration date, then you will be required to get a renewed ID card. You will have to provide the required documentation for an ID card renewal including proof of name, date of birth, place of birth, Social Security Number and Missouri residential address.

- How do I get a hardship license?
- The state of Missouri has a Limited Driving Privilege (LDP) program that is also known as a hardship license. Hardship licenses allow drivers to use their cars for important tasks that have been pre-approved, such as getting to and from work.
You may not be eligible for the LDP in certain cases. For example, if you were convicted of a felony involving a motor vehicle. To apply you must:
- Submit an Application for Limited Driving Privilege
- File a petition with your local county circuit court
You will be responsible for the associated court costs and legal fees when obtaining your hardship license.

- How do I get a replacement license if I am in the military and stationed elsewhere?
- To receive a drivers license replacement if you are in the military and stationed out of Missouri, you may apply by mail. Active duty military personal and their dependents must fill out a Mail-in Driver License Application. On the application, indicate your out-of-state or out-of-country mailing address. Your replacement driverslicense will be mailed to that address. Include with the application the following:
- Photocopy of military ID card
- Copy of U.S. Passport or birth certificate
- Social Security Number
- Proof of Missouri Residential Address, for example, a voter registration card

- How do I get a traffic ticket dismissed?
- If you plead ‘not guilty to a traffic ticket and prove that you did not commit the violation, then your traffic ticket may be dismissed. Bargaining comes down from the prosecution only. Also, you may not plead ‘no contest in Missouri traffic court. There is a possibility that you may have to pay higher costs related to fighting a traffic ticket in court.
