Residents of Indiana have three options for renewing car registration in their home state:
- Online
- In person
- By mail
Online
In order to renew online, visit the BMV website, create an account and review the information that the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has on file for your car. If everything is accurate, drivers must then pay for the renewal fee with a credit card, debit card or electronic check. Then print the receipt and wait for your renewed Indiana vehicle registration to arrive within 14 days.
In Person
If you would like to receive your new documents immediately, visit a local BMV office to renew. You will need to bring:
- Current car registration.
- Proof of passing an emissions test, if applicable.
- Proof of auto insurance, if applicable.
- Payment for car registration renewal fees.
By Mail
In order to apply by mail, fill out your registration renewal notice and mail it in with payment to the address listed on the form. Acceptable payment methods for mail-in applications include checks and money orders.
